GUEST ADMIT TICKETS

Fair Weather Plan

No Guest Admit Tickets Required

In case of fair weather (including light mist or light rain), the Undergraduate Commencement Exercises will be held in Hughes Memorial Stadium. No Guest Admit Tickets are required to attend the Undergraduate Commencement Exercises held in Hughes Stadium.


Inclement Weather Plan

In case of severe or inclement weather on Saturday, May 20, 2017, the University will relocate the Undergraduate Commencement Exercises from Hughes Memorial Stadium to Hill Field House and will hold two ceremonies on that day, with college/schools divided into morning and afternoon ceremonies, according to the following scheme:

Morning Commencement Exercises: 9:30 a.m., Hill Field House

  • College of Liberal Arts
  • School of Community Health and Policy
  • School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences
  • School of Education and Urban Studies
  • School of Social Work

Afternoon Commencement Exercises: 1:30 p.m., Hill Field House

  • School of Architecture and Planning
  • School of Business and Management
  • School of Engineering
  • School of Global Journalism and Communication

Guest Admit Tickets Required

Guest attending the Undergraduate Commencement Exercises under the Inclement Weather Plan will be required to have Guest Admit Tickets in order to enter Hill Field House. Each undergraduate student who is certified for graduation will be given six (6) Guest Admit Tickets to distribute to their guests. Those Guest Admit Tickets will be issued at the end of Rehearsal on Friday, May 19, 2017.   Guest must present those Guest Admit Tickets for scanning in order to be admitted to Hill Field House for the exercises. Ticket scanning provides the University with quick and accurate attendance figures and controls fraudulent, duplicate, or invalid tickets from entering the Field House.

Graduate students who were graduated on Thursday, May 18, 2017, may attend and participate in the Saturday, May 20, 2017, Undergraduate Commencement Exercises. However, if the exercises are held in Hill Field House under the Inclement Weather Plan, they may attend the ceremony and should attend either the morning exercises or the afternoon exercises that correspond to the college/school in which their discipline is located. They will not receive Guest Admit Tickets to give to their guests under the Inclement Weather Plan; and their guests may not use the Guest Admit Tickets that they were issued for the Thursday, May 18, 2017, Graduate Commencement Exercises.

Guest without Guest Admit Tickets may view the ceremony at satellite locations in Murphy Fine Arts Center. Guest Admit Tickets are not required at the satellite locations.

COMMENCEMENT LOCATION AND TIME

The Commencement Exercises will be held in the W. A. C. Hughes Memorial Stadium and will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Guests should be seated by 9:00 a.m. to witness the procession.   In case of rain, graduates and guests should bring umbrellas.

COMMENCEMENT LOCATION IN CASE OF SEVERE WEATHER

In the event of severe weather conditions (thunderstorm, strong winds, etc.), there will be morning and afternoon Commencement Exercises held in the Hill Field House. Please check this site for the specific times. Guest Admit Tickets will be required. Only in the case of severe weather will guests be required to have Guest Admit Tickets. Under those circumstances, graduating students may have a designated number of tickets (6 or less), and stu­dents may pick up those Guest Admit Tickets immediately following Rehearsal on May 19, 2017. Guests who do not have Guest Admit Tickets for Hill Field House may view the Exercises at satellite locations in Murphy Fine Arts Center and the University Student Center.

TICKET SCANNING

For the May Commencement, Morgan commencement staffers will scan Guest Admit Tickets upon entry into Talmadge Hill Field House. Each guest must produce a valid ticket for scanning in order to enter the facility. Ticket scanning provides the University with quick and accurate attendance figures and controls fraudulent, duplicate, or invalid tickets from entering Talmadge Hill Field House.

PARKING AND SEATING FOR THE MOBILITY-IMPAIRED

Parking for guests who have impaired mobility will be available on Lot L/M. Police offic­ers will be strategically located throughout the campus to provide traffic and parking direc­tions. Guests with mobility impairments will be able to sit in designated areas. Ushers will be available to provide instructions and assistance. Professional signers will sign for the hearing-impaired.

GENERAL PARKING

Complimentary parking will be available on the following University parking lots and gar­ages: Commons Garage (adjacent to the University Student Center), North Campus Garage (CBEIS/Engineering), Lot CE (surface CBEIS/Engineering), Lot T/V (Blount Towers/Rawlings Hall/Marshall Apts.), Lot U (Montebello), Lot Z (across from Alumni House) and Lot Y (behind Murphy Fine Arts Center). For the convenience of our guests, shuttle services will be provided to and from the Commencement Exercises and will be available for the mobility impaired.

FIRST-AID SERVICES

For first-aid services, graduates should see the marshals, and guests should see the ushers. Ambulance service will be available for emergencies.

RADIO BROADCAST

The Commencement Exercises will be broadcast live over WEAA-FM Radio Station, 88.9 FM, and live-streamed at morgan.edu/commencement.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AT GRADUATION

The following items are prohibited for ALL individuals (faculty, administration, staff, graduates, other participants and patrons, etc.) attending the Graduation Ceremonies:

• alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs carried in by patrons

• glass bottles or metal containers

• ice chests or large coolers

• bota bags or wine skins

• sticks, bats, or clubs, including any attachments

• fireworks, firearms, or other weapons or simulated weapons

• bullhorns or other artificial noisemakers

• framed backpacks

• animals other than certified guide dogs for the disabled

• balloons, drones, or other airborne devices

• food and beverages

• cell phones that are not turned off or placed on vibrate
