COMMENCEMENT MARKS THE PINNACLE OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, AND THE UNIVERSITY PROUDLY CELEBRATES THE OCCASION WITH FORMAL POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE. PLEASE HELP US PROVIDE A MEMORABLE EVENT FOR ALL INVOLVED.

  • Guests should be seated before the procession begins.
  • No guests are permitted in the graduates’ seating area.
  • Guests will not be seated during the processional; late arrivals must wait until the procession ends.
  • Cell phones should be placed on silent mode.
  • Dress appropriately for the occasion and the season.
  • Please remain for the entire ceremony as a sign of respect for all graduates.
  • Photographs are encouraged, but please remain in your seat when photographing or recording any portion of the ceremony.
  • Morgan State is proud to be a smoke-free campus.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following items are prohibited for ALL individuals (faculty, administration, staff, graduates, other participants and patrons, etc.) attending the Graduation Ceremonies:
  • alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs carried in by patrons
  • glass bottles or metal containers
  • ice chests or large coolers
  • bota bags or wine skins
  • sticks, bats, or clubs, including any attachments
  • fireworks, firearms, or other weapons or simulated weapons
  • bullhorns or other artificial noisemakers
  • framed backpacks
  • animals other than certified guide dogs for the disabled
  • balloons, drones, or other airborne devices
  • food and beverages
  • cell phones that are not turned off or placed on vibrate

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photographs are encouraged, but please remain in your seat when photographing or recording any portion of the ceremony.

Photographs of each graduate as they cross the stage are available from the professional photographer(s) who will contact all graduates with purchasing information.

FIRST-AID SERVICES

For first-aid services, graduates should see the marshals, and guests should see the ushers. Ambulance service will be available for emergencies.

RADIO BROADCAST

The Commencement Exercises will be broadcast live over WEAA-FM Radio Station, 88.9 FM, and live-streamed on this website.
